HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!
Wednesday, September 22nd is the Fall Equinox! We have a little more time with warm weather and might not get the typical "Fall" look in San Diego, but we can still celebrate! Scroll down for a wonderful Anti-Inflammatory Apple Cider recipe!
WHAT IS THE AUTUMNAL EQUINOX?
The autumnal equinox—also called the September equinox or fall equinox—marks the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. The fall equinox arrives on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 12:21 P.M. PDT in the Northern Hemisphere. The equinox occurs at the same moment worldwide.

During the equinox, the Sun crosses the celestial equator, an imaginary extension of Earth’s equator line into space. The equinox occurs when the Sun’s center passes through this line. When the Sun crosses the equator from North to South, this marks the autumnal equinox.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
After the Fall Equinox, the sun rises later and sets earlier. Daylight time will get shorter and shorter until we eventually reach the December Solstice, when we will start gaining daylight.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT US?
Darkness prompts your body to start producing melatonin, the hormone that helps regulate your circadian rhythm
Changes in light-dark cycles can affect when your body releases melatonin making you feel tired earlier or later than usual. With all of this in mind, it's still a red flag if you are having a hard time falling asleep, staying asleep or feeling rested upon waking. If you are experiencing any of these, reach out to schedule an appointment.
